Chiswick is a leafy town situated in West London. It has great transport links, green spaces (including Chiswick House), and plenty of independent coffee shops and restaurants to try out. With there being so many coffee shops here are my top 5 places that you should visit.

1.The Elder Press Café: Located just off the River Thames, you’ll find The Elder Press Café. The café opened in 2019 and is a great place to grab a coffee, whether that’s to catch up with friends, work, get a drink to take with you on your walk along the Thames, or simply if you’re looking for a place to relax after a busy week. The décor has a Mediterranean feel and a small courtyard to enjoy on those sunnier days. Food is freshly prepared, with seasonal dishes popping up on the menu, as well as coffee from Ozone, and homemade sweet treats. If you have decide to visit, I recommend trying the orange and cinnamon buns with a latte!

Address: 3 South Black Lion Lane, London W6 9TJ, nearest train station: Stamford Brook

2.Mari Deli & Dining: This is another spot along the River Thames and is a hidden gem! Mari Deli Dining is a family run business, serving authentic Italian food prepared in the kitchen. There is limited seating but is good for grabbing a coffee or pastry on-the-go as you walk along the river. Outside the café they have a kiosk when you catch purchase homemade desserts (think traditional tiramisu, cannoli, cakes and pastries), cheese imported from Italy, bread, and cured meats. The coffee is just the right strength, but if you’re not a coffee drinker try out the Italian style hot chocolate!

Address: 1a Eyot Gardens, London W6 9TN, nearest train station: Stamford Brook

3.The Airedale Café: If you don’t know West London well then this is definitely a hidden secret - even a lot of Chiswick residents don't know about the cafe!

The Airedale is located inside The Hogarth Club (a health club with tennis courts, a gym, dance studios, and fitness classes), but you don’t have to be a member to go in. It has a very relaxed atmosphere with people working, grabbing a coffee before or after a workout or meeting up with friends so you will never feel rushed or pressured to leave! There is also outdoor seating which can be enjoyed all year round thanks to the patio heaters. There is a varied food and drinks menu (I recommend the mushrooms and poached egg on toast), including smoothies and excellent coffee at extremely reasonable prices!

Address: The Hogarth Club, Airedale Avenue, Chiswick W4 2NW, nearest train station: Stamford Brook

4.Chief Coffee: Chief Coffee is located in a quiet mews off Turnham Green Terrace. It’s on the sight of a Victorian bottling factory and what used to be home to the British furniture company, Isokon Plus.

The décor is simple, light and has a real community feel to it. What makes Chief Coffee unique from other cafes is that is has Japanese arcade machines and a pinball lounge which retro games which may spark a blast from the past! The coffee is from Allpress and Workshop coffee and they also serve pastries and other sweet treats.

Address: Turnham Green Terrace Mews, Chiswick W4 1QU, nearest train station: Turnham Green http://www.chief-coffee.com/

5.The Post Room: Last but not least we have The Post Room café, a café that really does have a community feel to it and is in the heart of Chiswick.

Like all the other places, the café has a very relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a coffee, catch up and a slice of cake. During lockdown they transformed into a deli and really made a difference within the community by stocking flour (which at one point was very hard to come by!), snacks, condiments, and eggs. Today you can sit outside or inside and admire the work from local artists that is on display in the café.

2 Bedford Corner, South Parade, Chiswick W4 1LD, nearest train station: Turnham Green

Those were my top 5 places to grab a coffee in Chiswick, but there are plenty of other great options to try!
